About the exchange
Golden Eagle Precious Metals Exchange has traded on Dutch Fork Road for two decades. In that time the metals market has run hot, run cold and run sideways — and the way we do business has not changed once.
You deal with a person across a counter, not a call centre. Your metal is tested where you can see the readout. The price is arrived at with arithmetic you can follow. And if the answer is that today is not a good day to buy, we will tell you that too.
That approach is why a large share of what crosses our counter comes from people who were sent by someone we looked after years ago.
Selling to us
The order matters here, so we have numbered it. Most sales are finished inside twenty minutes and you leave with cash in hand.
No appointment needed for ordinary lots. Coins, bars, sterling flatware, dental gold, broken chain — bring it as it is. For estates or anything over 100 ounces, call ahead and we will set aside private time.
Every piece is analysed on the counter where you can watch. XRF for composition, specific gravity for bars, calibrated scales for weight. You see the same readings we do.
We show you the current spot price, our buy percentage and the arithmetic between them. Accept it and you are paid before you leave. Decline it and you walk out with your metal and no fee.
Not sure what you have? Bring it in anyway. Sorting an unknown box is routine work for us, and it costs you nothing.

Buying the metal is the straightforward part. Where it sits afterwards, and whether it is genuinely allocated to you, is what actually matters.
Your holding is stored under your name against specific serial numbers, fully insured, and never pooled, lent or leased. Audit or withdraw it whenever you choose.
We confirm IRS eligibility on every product, coordinate directly with your custodian, and keep you copied on the paperwork so the transfer stays clean and compliant.
If you would rather hold it yourself, we will talk through safes, insurance riders and what to tell — and not tell — the people around you.
From the counter
I inherited my father’s coin collection and had no idea what any of it was worth. They sorted the whole box on the counter, told me which pieces were worth more to a collector than to them, and pointed me elsewhere for those. That is not the answer I expected.
Twenty minutes on the phone about whether platinum belonged in my allocation, and the honest answer was mostly no. Bought gold instead. First dealer who talked me out of the higher-margin product.
Rolled part of my retirement account into physical metal and expected the paperwork to be a nightmare. They dealt with the custodian directly and kept me copied on everything. Straightforward the whole way.
Been stacking silver here since 2011. Premiums are posted, the spread is the same whether you buy one ounce or a monster box, and nobody has ever tried to sell me a proof coin at four times melt.

Not for everyday transactions — walk in during counter hours and we will look after you. Book ahead for estate lots, orders above 100 ounces of silver or 10 ounces of gold, and any consultation where you want unhurried time.
We start at the live spot price for the metal, confirm purity and weight in front of you, and apply our posted buy percentage. The arithmetic is shown to you on paper. Numismatic coins are valued separately on their collector market, which is often well above melt.
Yes. Karat gold, sterling silver, platinum settings, dental gold, broken chain and single earrings all have melt value. Bring the whole drawer — we sort it, and testing is free whether you sell or not.
The IRS requires minimum fineness of .995 for gold, .999 for silver and .9995 for platinum and palladium, from an approved refiner or sovereign mint. American Gold Eagles are admitted by specific statute despite being .9167. We will confirm eligibility on any product before you buy it inside a retirement account.
Yes. Storage is segregated and allocated — your holding is recorded under your name with the specific serial numbers where bars carry them, held in an insured depository, and never lent, leased or pooled. You can audit or withdraw it.
Purchases are reported only where federal law requires it — certain cash transactions above $10,000 and a defined list of bullion sales to dealers on IRS Form 1099-B. We will tell you plainly and in advance whether a given transaction triggers a filing.
Counter collection is standard. For brokered and larger orders we arrange fully insured shipping in discreet packaging with signature on delivery, or direct transfer into your depository account.
Cash, debit, wire and cashier’s cheque. Bank wires clear fastest on large orders and carry no card surcharge. Prices lock the moment the order is confirmed.
